Otoplastic is a common aesthetic surgery which helps correct projecting ears. Projecting ears can cause discomfort and inhibition not only during childhood, but in adulthood as well. Due to their position on the two sides of our face, ears have a major impact on our appearance.
Projecting ears are a genetic disease, contrary to certain misconceptions that they develop if someone slept on his ears too much during childhood

Who can undergo otoplastic?

Until the age of 5-6 years, our ears develop completely, therefore, otoplastic is advised after this age, with no upper age restriction.

How is otoplastic done?

Otoplastic surgery is always preceded by a consultation with the specialist doing the surgery. During the consultation, the doctor provides all the information regarding the surgery. At our clinic, the consultation preceding the otoplastic surgery is free, it does not involve an additional price. Otoplastic is an ambulatory surgery, it is performed under local anesthesia. It takes about two hours, depending on the extent of correction needed. During the surgery, we make a cut in the back side of the ears, from where the cartilages of the earflaps can be corrected. Since the cut is hidden behind the ear, the surgical scar will not be noticed.

What should be done after the otoplastic surgery?

The removal of the stitches is done two weeks after the surgery. For optimal results, patients should wear a headband for 2-3 weeks after the surgery, and for about four weeks, they should adjust their lifestyle according to the consultation with the doctor.

What kind of surgeries can be performed within otoplastic?

At our clinic, earlobe correction and earlobe plasty is also available.
Earlobe correction might be necessitated by elongated earlobes due to wearing earrings. It is also common after an earring tears out, or after wearing ear-stretchers. This surgery is also performed under local anesthesia, and takes about 45 minutes.
